Welcome to our Book element of our journaling page.  We have provided some informative books below on journaling.  These books can be found at your public library or on line book stores and are a great resource for creative journal writing and the important benefits to journal writing.  If you find a book you would like us to add to our list please leave the information in the comments section at the bottom of the page and we will consider adding it to our page. Stephanie Dowrick's book "Creative Journal Writing: The art and heart of reflection," is a how to book of journal writing.  Dowrick (2009), writes a step by step book in which she uses "stories and examples" as well as "helpful tools and strategies," to help people reflect and put their thoughts and memories onto paper. Deborah Reber's book, "Chill: Stress-Reducing Techniques for a More Balanced, Peaceful You," is a book about techniques in stress reduction (targeted and the female audience) and is not an all inclusive book about journaling. Deborah Reber provides an insightful chapter about journaling (Ch. 9, pg. 141), it's helpful uses and helpful hints on how to journal to reduce stress as well as some good ideas how to effectively use journaling. This book is the first book with a step by step path to journal writing.  Luci explains and shows the power of journaling and inspires a person to begin the journey into writing.  As Shaw (2004) states in her book, "Writing a journal regularly will enrich, nourish, mature, heal, develop, broaden, enhance and transform you.  No doubt about it, if you become a consistent journal keeper, you will change and be changed” (pg. 13). There is an examination of different scholarly articles and      the author does a great job displaying arguments to prove a point. This book considers the originality of objectivity with journalism.

"Intensive Care : A Doctor's Journal" , by Murray, John F. 

This book is Dr. Murray's journal book. He wrote this book about experiences in the ICU for a month. This is good for people who work in the medical field and  want to keep their own medical resource while working.  (Gyu Lee)

This book teaches "people professionals" how to write a therapeutic journal to their clients.  It has good examples of writing therapeutic journals case by case, so it is very easy to read and understand for readers. (Gyu Lee)
