 Visioning

When we hear the word "visioning" we think of one of our senses; sight.  The reality is that visioning incorporates all of our senses to give us a realistic image of an event.  Many people use visioning and imagery to get the feeling of an experience before it happens.  In this vision we can control all the factors and outcomes.  It is almost like a flight simulator that pilots use before taking off in an actual plane.  We use all the senses to describe exactly how we will feel so that we are not surprised by the sensations.  Many sports psychologists use this technique with elite athletes to give them a positive mental picture before a big game, meet or race.  The athlete is told to describe every detail that might come to their attention in the most perfect way that it could occur.  They hear the roar of the crowd, feel the breeze roll over the hairs on their skin, they see their opponents preparing, and smell the fresh cut grass.  A sprinter would talk about how they would strip off their warm ups and get down into the blocks.  They would be feeling great as they practice their starts.  They are perfect every time.  Then they would describe everything they would feel from the point they hear the gun go off to the the celebration after they won the race. Not only is visioning practiced with professional athletes. Visioning can also be practiced in both an individual or group environment. If a business were trying to gain success, they would use visioning to predict what could possibly happen. Predicting not only benefits, but also downfalls which can assist the group to make better decisions for the outcome. The practice of visioning on an individual level can help one reach a dream or their desired goals. The individual would most likely pick the goal they want to attain, and plan strategies using visioning in the attempt to know what or what not to expect. Visioning is an important practice to incorporate with one's life, since it is almost like the self motivator within the person. They can surround themselves with senses in order to feel the drive and determination. It is taking a step into the future so that we can take a moment to recollect our strategies; strengthening the mind and body connection.    (Chelsea Gobster) (Franchesca Previte)

Summary of transformational pratices

Hello my name is William Cassalata. For the second half of this semester I have been practicing the self-care practice of visioning. I chose this practice because it went will with the practice of juornaling which I did the first half of the semester. I wanted to make a vision board to help me find what’s important in my life. I after careful consideration to details I make my board and then wrote in my journal about the experience and what the picture and quotes in the board meant to me. I made the vision board on my dream of opening my own business. After making it, writing about it, and looking at it daily I found that I was more motivated to do things. I found my purpose in life and I realized that nothing can stand in my way.

Anyone can benefit from this practice on both a personal and a professional level. On the personal level one can use visioning to picture a successful speech that they may need to present. This can calm ones nerves and think positively about the situation. A person can also use visioning by making a vision board about their future success as a student in college. Looking at this vision board throughout the week can inspire or motivate the person to do what needs to be done to achieve this future success. On a professional level businesses can use visioning to predict the future outcome of their product or service which can tell the businesses to keep on track or change something to meet their goals. Other professionals, in the healthcare field, can use visioning as a coping strategy to calm their clients. When their clients vision a happy place they can better control their emotions and their lives.    (William Cassalata)

I really like your wiki and this topic. I loved the different color for each type of reference. Your pictures for the paragraph are eye catching and relate well to the visioning topic well. Two things that might make this page even better is if you added more information about visioning that relates to the non-athlete because this is a great technique for anyone to use. I think adding information about a vision board will help the non-athlete. Also I really liked your power points but it would make this page even better if it was able to be seen on it, instead of being seen as a link. (William Cassalata)

Your use of color in the wiki was very easy to follow, I knew exactly what section I was in because of it. One thing I would do is try to make a better distinction between the citation/link and the abstract. I really enjoyed how one of the main focuses of your wiki was visioning and sports. As someone who is very into sports and exercise this drew me into your wiki and made me want to look at all the information. The information was very interesting. I enjoyed the article showing 5 tips for visualization. It was laid out very clear and easy to read. As I have seen on some other wikis including a small picture of the book might make the wiki look a little nicer. Make it so it isn't all a bunch of words. Overall a really good job. I love the topic chosen and found the wiki very informative. I am a very visual person and enjoyed the color use with the fonts. One suggestion would to add a little more information that is not just from an athletic perspective. You have a lot of information and at times the links and citations blended together a liitle more distinction between summary and link would be helpful. Adding some visual stimulation through out the wiki would also help to keep the reader engaged. Overall it was awesome very informative and I really enjoyed the media elements on quick tips for visualization. Looking forward to the final product looks great. (Brette Martin)

I thought your wiki was really interesting. I liked how there were different colors for each section. I would suggest making sure that all of the fonts are the same for each section. But I did think that the wiki was extremely educational. (Danielle Wagner)

First of all, just skimming the page captured my attention. Makes me want to go to my group's wiki and make it more organized by having each section different colors like this one. The introduction really makes me want to read more. Saying that visioning is more than just sight makes me want to know why! Use of detail in the intro is absolutely awesome. I'm actually doing visioning for my transformational change right now, so all this information is getting me excited to continue in that transformational change. I really enjoyed the article choices. They are different but have the same goals. I literally can't wait to take the time to see the different articles and youtube videos individually and throughly, to help me improve my life choices. All thanks to this group's well-thoughtout wiki! Maybe two more pictures capturing the topic of visioning will really put it all together well! good job. (Hannah Simpson)

Your wiki was one of my favorites. I like that you guys used different font colors to separate the different sections. I also like that you guys mad powerpoints for your original creations instead of using pictures and quotes like everyone else. You both had some great sources and your hard work shows. A suggestion I have is to go back and check fonts and font sizes there are a few sections that look different than the rest of the page. Maybe you guys might consider adding pictures throughout the page. Overall you guys did a great job.

The intro was spot on and I really enjoyed it. Visioning is used in so many different ways and typically when I have thought about visioning it is always in the distant future and the steps needed to get where I want to be but when you bring in the sports side of it, it really shows the benefits of visioning in the short term as well. I really enjoyed the feel of the page from the athletic standpoint. I also like that you include several different links and information on differing styles of visioning and provide plenty of practices for the viewers of the page to participate in. I would consider adding a more capturizing image to the page. Something that really screams out to the reader and grabs their attention. Also the color theme is very cool but in the books and article sections it gets a little difficult to differentiate between the summaries and the links but by if you use different color shades like on the McSherry article it's much easier.

Amazing job! I loved how you used the different colors and sub heading to identify the different sections. The summary at the beginning was great. I would have like to see more pictures and videos. It makes it hard redirect to the video clips. I think it’s a lot easier to press play straight from the wiki. Overall great wiki, I enjoyed reading it. (Shelita J Pauley)

Great job on your Wiki. I really liked the material you added and it was very informative. You do a good job of describing the benefits of visioning and I liked how you added descriptions of the links you posted and this made it easy to read through. Other visual aides such as diagrams may be useful here, but may be difficult to find covering this topic. Also adding some color to the page may make it a little brighter and pleasing to the eye. Your Wiki is still very well organized and easy to read through. I also like the pictures/visual aides that were posted at the top. I would suggest adding more if you can find some that are fitting for this topic. Great work! (Matt Koithan)

For the revision I added the direct youtube videos to the page so someone can watch them directly from our wiki instead of following the link. I also added horizontal lines to separate each section. This makes our wiki a little more visually appealing. I fixed a lot of the inconsistency of the font throughout our wiki so that it is the same in each section. I added direct links to every website on our wiki so that it is easier for the reader to find our sources of information. (Chelsea Gobster)

For the revision of our Wiki I added more to the intro paragraph. I felt like it was kind of lacking length wise. I was trying to portray that it isn't just athlete who use this practice, people use it for different reasons and in different settings. I also tried to make all of the fonts the same "Normal" font and put it at size 12. I revised my citations since some of mine were incorrect. Thank you so much everyone for the awesome feedback!
